SEE THE BOOK A NIGERIAN GRADUATE WROTE FOR CHILDREN.

Ha! The worst part of this is that it would be sold in schools and children will assimilate what they would be taught. One can only but imagine how the contents of the book would look like.

Three people are responsible... the author and the printing press. While the author's fault is obvious and inexcusable. How can i own a desktop publishing printing press and not edit and proof read what is being given to me to type, bind and package? Unfortunately, money matter have blinded the ethics of publishing. Tufiakwa!!!

Thirdly sef, our Nigerian Publisher Association is literally dead... Any dick and harry can publish a book today without their knowledge and it would be in circulation in the market. Chayiiiiii!

My take on this is that the education system in Nigeria needs a total make over both at the Federal level and the state level. 

What kind of  English will the children being taught with this grammar speak? Anambra State for that matter! Mba mba mba, Governor Willie Obiano should kindly look into this matter.

A FATHER BEATS HIS SON WITH PESTLE AND ABANDONS HIM !!!

Seriously speaking, not everyone living is human. Some are just goats in human skin. How on earth will a father beat a child up to this extent? Even if he stole something, he shouldn’t be treated this way.

8 years old Chukwuma Okafor is presently on admission at the Kubwa General Hospital after his father brutally beat him, left cane marks on his body and a fractured hand and leg.
According to Facebook user, IG Wala who shared the photos, after beating him, Ebuka’s father took him to school and dumped him there. Worried by his state, his teachers contacted a Nun who rushed him to the General Hospital in Kubuwa, Abuja. After undergoing series of X-ray, the result revealed he has fracture on his leg and hand as a result of beating with a strong object which the boy confirmed to be a pestle.

Incidentally, Hassan Maina Kaina, a reporter with VOA Hausa was in the hospital to check on his friend. He saw the boy’s condition and encouraged that the matter should be reported to the Police.

The school reported the matter to the Police in Kubuwa and Mr. Okafor (his father) has been arrested for child abuse. The school teachers confirmed that on several occasions, they made effort to intervene on the boy’s situation but the father proved stubborn and even threatened them. The scars on the boy’s head & back shows how long he has been maltreated by his own father.

Ebuka’s father claims he is a disciplinarian and that his arrest by the police over the matter is an example of the kind of embarrassment his 8 year old son brings to his family. He is yet to state what his son did to warrant such beating.

GARDEN EGG SAUCE.

Today's recipe is a very nutritional one and it's made with your everyday normal garden egg. Could be the white ones or the green ones but I used the white ones for this recipe. Am sure a lot of people never knew that you could actually make sauces and stews with it. I thought so too till I came across this recipe and I was like Wooow! So don't just buy garden egg and eat with groundnut or ose oji (that thick brown paste for eating garden eggs), try out this recipe I want to share and you'll be glad you did.

Ingredients:
Garden eggs
Red oil
Crayfish
Ogiri okpei, ogiri isi (igbo) or Dawadawa
Pepper
Scent leaves
Smoked fish
Seasoning
Salt
Water

Method 1
Remove the stalk from the garden eggs, wash and grind them in a blender. Grind thoroughly to form a smooth paste then set your red oil on fire. Heat it till it's bleached or if you prefer just heat it till it's hot. I like to bleach it because it gives a different taste from the ordinary hot red oil.
Add the blended garden eggs and fry till most of the water in it is dried up. Wash the smoked fish with warm water and salt and add to the sauce. Add a little water to it to adjust the thickness to your preference then add your ground crayfish, okpei, pepper, seasoning and salt. Lastly add the scented leaves and allow to simmer for a few minutes and turn off the heat.
You can serve with boiled yam, plantain or rice.

Method 2
Boil the garden eggs till it cooks well and becomes soft. Peel off the light back from it and discard. Pound the garden eggs in a mortar or just use your blender. When a smooth paste is formed, put it in a pot and boil. Add a little water, red oil, okpei, pepper, smoked fish, crayfish and the scented leaves and seasoning.
(I have to state that I don't use smoked fish, crayfish and the scented leaves when I prepare the sauce using this second method.)  

Method 3
The only extra ingredient here is fresh tomatoes. Use the first method here but fry the garden eggs and tomatoes together. The taste is mind blowing!

YESTERDAY'S AFTERNOON MUSINGS.

Yesterday was like any other day, I had gone to pick up my children from school. And as I sat in the school's waiting hall, I looked at the children pouring out from their classes. Some running, some chatting, some sharing their left over lunch with friends and some others doing stuff they considered fun. They were all children just being children and their innocence drew a smile to my face.

But as I watched them, I grew somewhat sober. These children would soon grow up to be young men and women and they will stop being as free with each other. The society including we their parents will pollute their minds about the next person's gender, the difference in their states of origin, their different tribes and religion, their social status in life, who to mingle with and who not to talk to, just to mention but a few.  And that is why we have the world the way it is. A large majority of the human race preach strife, teach how to take advantage of the other person's weaknesses and a vengeful outlook on life. This reminds me of one of P-Square's song, "Do me I do you, man no go vex...." 

Basically, we lay so much emphasis on the least important things in life. We don't preach tolerance, being patient, being civil, respecting the other person's beliefs, being thankful to God for everyone and praying for anyone no matter who. 

And this is how life has been from time immemorial, even the Holy Bible itself acknowledges that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9) 

Can this world be a better place? Can it be that peaceful? I can't say it is possible because judging from times before Abraham, it never got any better. But we can make it happen if we want to, it will only take time. A very very long time at that. Definitely such peace is only available in heaven. We all have to try to get there to experience it. 

YOUNG UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA STUDENT DIES IN HIS SLEEP.

Abk Sadiq, a 400l industrial chemistry department student of the University of Abuja died last night in his sleep. Just yesterday, he was very active on twitter…and one of his last tweets was something about death. See it after the cut…May his soul rest in peace, amen.

It's very sad that such a budding young man should mysteriously die like that. I mean, the guy just laughed at someone who was praying against death and that same death just grabbed him away in the middle of the night. The strangest of things do happen in this world. Science would proffer reasons why the young man died but did the so called reason have to happen after what he had tweeted?

The Bible in Proverbs 18:21 states that, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." It could be in the form of what you have spoken, written, tweeted, instagrammed, etc. In however form death is mentioned, whether knowingly or unknowingly, it is as powerful as in the other form.  The same Bible in Proverbs 21: 23 states that, "Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity."

So let us be careful in what we say or think whether or not as a joke or not, because this our little body organ is capable of life and death indeed.

SHOULD A SINGLE LADY TONE DOWN HER SUCCESS IN ORDER TO GET A HUSBAND?

So I was watching the television a couple of days ago and this topic was furiously being argued on. Some said yes and some said no. Both sides had very valid points to support their opinions and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the debate.

For me, I think that a woman should not tone down her success to get a husband but should apply modesty and moderation in her lifestyle and in whatever she does as well. If as a single lady  you can afford a Lamborghini (shey na the spelling be that?), maybe a fairly recent Rav4 jeep model would be better. If you can afford to buy a duplex, why not rent a flat with a friend or a relation. If you like travelling abroad for your vacations, try travelling to another part of Nigeria and relax. Don't wear designer goods all the time, try Aba-made. Trust me, those guys are good too.
Don't get me wrong it's good to live a good life, after all you only live once, BUT moderation and modesty are the keys to get what you want as a single lady even as a single guy looking to get a wife who will love you for you and not love you because of your wealth.
Toning down the wealth will go a long way in attracting a sincere man and not a gold digger. Yes o! some men are gold diggers too.

There are some men who feel intimidated when they know how rich a lady is therefore, they would prefer to go after a lady who is less financially well off than they are. Well, tables could turn tomorrow and the woman could become the richer spouse. How will the man take it then? A man who knows his worth in gold should be able to walk up to any lady and let her know his intentions. If she likes you enough, the party kicks off. And if she doesn't want you, you pat yourself on the back and tell yourself that even though she rejected you, you had the guts to toast her.

I heard about a woman that owned a house in which she and her family lived in but the husband did not know that their supposedly rented apartment belonged to his wife. Kasala burst when it was time to pay their house rent and the man didn't have the money ready. He then decided to plead with the landlord, who he had never met, to give him some time in order to get the money. One thing led to the other and it was discovered that the house actually belonged to his wife.

Now what I don't subscribe to is lying to a man about your achievements. That is out rightly bad and if the man later finds out that his woman lied to him about her wealth then that's going to affect the trust in their relationship. I know some women do it with good intentions so that they wont come off as haughty or too accomplished but what is wrong is wrong. Of course, you don't tell a man your achievements on the first few dates but you can let him in on your secret when you are sure that he is genuine. And how will you know that he is genuine? Pray wella my sister, lol.

A baby's ultrasound scan has gone viral and not for quite the right reasons. It seems there's more than just a baby in there and once you see it, you can't unsee it. At first sight, it looks like any other scan of an innocent foetus but look to the right of the photo and you'll get the chills. The eerie image was posted on imgur under the heading "A friend's ultrasound. When you see it...".

KANU, DASUKI: NBA, SANs DIFFER WITH BUHARI, SAGAY.

ABUJA— Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, and some leading lawyers in the country have disagreed with the Presidential Committee on anti-corruption led by Professor Itse Sagay over President Muhammadu Buhari’s insistence that the former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu who are facing separate criminal charges, would not be released from custody, despite valid court orders that granted them bail.

In his submission on the president’s stance, Professor Sagay argued that the Federal Government was not in violation of the rule of law as any bail granted an accused is completely related to the offence which he is charged before the court.

The NBA and some Senior Advocates of Nigeria, however, contended that the position the president took was offensive to the tenets of constitutional democracy, rule of law and presumption of innocence of an accused person. They argued that re-arresting someone immediately after the court has granted such person bail makes mockery of our democracy which is presumably anchored on the rule of law and separation of powers.”

Buhari had in his first presidential media chat at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, adduced reasons why the Federal Government would not readily allow both Dasuki and Kanu to regain their freedom from detention.

SPICE UP YOUR BREAD.

We Nigerians love bread so much like our lives depend on it. It's like the scriptural Daily Bread and any day some people don't munch on some bread, then they will not function well for that day. Am in this category of people too but I don't take my bread the same way all the time. I like to spice it up.
So today, I want to share a little bread recipe.......

Slices of your ordinary bread
Tomatoes
Pepper
Onions
Salt
Eggs
A pinch of nutmeg
Vegetable oil or whatever cooking oil you prefer...... (not red palm oil o!) lol

1) Dice your tomatoes, pepper, onions and set them aside. Whisk the eggs then add a pinch of salt    
     and the nutmeg. Add the diced ingredients to the egg and mix them all together.
2) Cut the bread slice into 2 triangles or into 2 rectangles, whatever shape you want.
3) Depending on the size of your frying pan, put a cooking spoon of oil and set it on fire. The idea is
    that you don't want to put too much oil in your pan as this will make your bread soggy with oil.
4) Soak the bread into the mixture, making sure that the tomatoes, etc cover its entire body, then fry.
5) Allow it to turn golden brown in colour then flip and fry the other side.
6) Serve while hot with the beverage of your choice.

                           So when you are done, you should have something looking like this.

SIBERIAN TIGER BECOMES UNLIKELY FRIENDS WITH A GOAT IT WAS GIVEN TO EAT.

An odd and remarkable thing happened when a live goat was put into the enclosure of a Siberian tiger as part of its twice-a-week feeding of live animals at the Primorsky Safari Park in Russia: Amur the tiger became friends with its dinner.
In a story that has captivated Russia, Timur the goat and Amur the tiger have become fast friends, eating and playing together, chasing each other in the snow and even playfully head-butting each other, according to the Agence France-Presse.
Timur the goat has even taken over the shelter Amur the tiger usually sleeps in, and now Amur sleeps on the shelter’s roof.
So enamored is the public about this unusual relationship that Primorsky Safari Park issues regular updates and plans to install webcams in the enclosure.

ABIA STATE GOVERNOR PRESENTS ABA-MADE SHOES TO THE MINISTER OF TRADE AND INVESTMENT.

The Minister for Trade and Investment, Dr Okey Enelamah was recently hosted by the Abia State Governor, Mr Okezie Ikpeazu and he presented him with the shoes. 

I must say that these young men are going to take over the Nigerian leather industry by storm. What they are producing there is very impressive and soon they will challenge other countries with what they have to offer. All they need is the support of the Nigerian Government, local and foreign investors. We the Nigerian citizens should also patronise them more than we patronise the foreign labels. We need to support our local content and put religion, tribe and other sentimental issues aside if we want to move forward as a country. Some of these foreign labels cant last longer than these Aba-made products. 

Take China-made products for instance, people know they are obviously fake but those same people will choose to buy it because it is foreign and ignore locally made ones. I see it as inferiority complex because I don't understand why I should buy something that will spoil while am still trying it on but since it is foreign I buy it anyway. It just doesn't make sense.

NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF ELECTRONIC GADGETS.

So I was in a bank's waiting hall and one thing struck me. Almost everyone was fiddling with one mobile device or the other, phones, laptops, palmtops and other cool looking devices that I don't know their names. I myself was also busy chatting alternatively with one friend on whatsapp and with another on BBM. On my left was a guy who was playing games and on my right sat a child with his mum's smart phone also playing games. After a while I stopped my chats and just looked at the people in the hall and I started thinking. 
No doubt, electronic gadgets have made our lives easier, people can talk to people thousands of miles away, you can get your job done in a matter of seconds, you can access the web and obtain whatever information you need and a bunch of other ways all these gadgets have made life simpler. But, it has also taken a very strong position in peoples' minds, attitudes and manner of thinking. 

Over indulgence on these electronic gadgets can cause accidents. "I just wanted to check who was pinging me and I didn't see the man crossing the road. Am sorry I ran him over with my car."
"I just wanted to catch the last episode of Super Story but I didn't know when the baby crawled into the kitchen." These are just a few out of many occurrences.   

Did you know that sitting in front of the television for long hours can cause obesity and redundancy. A lot of people, especially some men, spend a large portion of their time in front of the television either playing games or watching whatever it is that catches their fancy. Those that indulge in games buy the latest Play Station on board and make sure to finish all the levels at one sitting. Some others are movie or football addicts. And of course snacks and drinks make the whole affair a splendid one. So while they spend all this time sitting in one place, they are beckoning on obesity. 

Has anyone noticed the kind of English grammar that youths of nowadays speak and write? Spoken - " When my dad said he was visiting, I was like why? And he was like, he needed to check up on me. But I was like, he didn't need to. So sha, I was like, dad seriously? You don't like need to come to my school. Like for real, it's sooo not like cool. You grab, dad?" 
Written - Y R U 9ce 2 me?,  I 4gt  my fone in ma bag,  Gd am Madam, au R U? Really?????!!!!!! 
That is how someone I know mistakenly used this type of English in one of his exam papers and guess what happened. Your guess is as good as mine. Lol.

Don't get me wrong, technological advancement and its accompanying devices are all welcome developments but we human beings need to take control of how we use them otherwise they will take control of how they use us. Just imagine being controlled by your smartphone....... creepy, if you ask me.
