IF THIS WAS YOUR CHILD, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Two days ago a friend of mine called me up on the phone crying bitterly. She was confused and shocked at the same time and needed some advice from me and she goes,

Friend: Nne m I am finished! This girl wants to kill me before my time, what do I tell the world?!

Me: Calm down. What is it? What did your daughter do?

Friend: My daughter's head teacher just called me an gave me the most shocking news of my life......
Me: Go on, what did she say?

Friend: Nne m, I don't even know how to open my mouth and tell you what she said, heu! Chineke mu ooo!! This girl has brought shame to the family.

Me: What happened nau?

Friend: The head teacher said that the school cleaner was cleaning the restrooms after school when she heard low tones and weird sounds coming from one of the stalls. She at first thought that there was an injured child there so she moved quietly to investigate.

She bent over and saw three pairs of legs there. She, suspecting that something was not right, pushed the door open and saw my daughter with two other girls all naked and being intimate with each other! They confessed that they had been in this act for over a year now.

At that point, I myself had to let out a sound of disbelief. This child i'm talking about is the sweetest girl you ever met. She was a straight A student, basically the pride of her parents. To make matters worse, she is just 11. Wow

I just could not bring myself to picture that girl in that situation. The thought alone just ruins my day. She is just 11 for crying out loud and already engaging in adult activities.

Anyway, I tell her and her husband not to carry out any action in anger or say anything in anger but to just let a couple of days  go by and then call their daughter, sit her down and have a deep talk with her. There has to be a reason why a child of that age would indulge in such actions.

So many things influencing children of nowadays. Woow woow woow.

Whuuh! Feels like I walked into a room that hasn't been dusted in years.
There are cobwebs everywhere with the owners spinning their webs, there are thick columns of dust everywhere, rodents are waltzing in and out of the room like they were well within their rights to do so an every door hinge makes this eerie blood curdling sound.

I haven't been here in a long while and this is exactly what my blog site feels like to me. Well, time to get busy an clean up my blog an re occupy 😊.

GET THAT GOLD!!

I saw a brilliant athlete in the ongoing Olympic games in Rio. This particular athlete is in the women's 400m race and she did something spectacular that she herself most probably never planned to do.
There she was, racing with the other competitors and the only thing she was telling herself was that she had to get that gold medal and she did!

But what is interesting is the manner in which her dreams metamorphosed into reality. As the athletes were all racing towards the finish line, one of them was about to cross over the line That meant that she, Shaunae Miller, would come in second. But she wouldn't settle for anything less so she dived ahead, stretched her arms and fingers forward and made it just inches past the finish line and ultimately took first place.

Applying the above scenario to our everyday lives, everyone wants to be the first and not the tail, to be the sheriff in town and basically call the shots but how do you go about that? In most settings, in an office for instance, there are laid down rules on how to get to the top of the corporate ladder. In fact everybody is scrambling to get to the top, trying to push out the next person and be the one to set the game rules and run tins. It is up to you to find a way to make yourself stand out. You have to take everyone by surprise and get that gold.
If you are an introvert, you have to step out of your shell and show the world that the real person is in there and if you are the 'area scatter' type , then you need to keep calm and listen to your inner voice. In whatever way you are naturally made up, you have to act fast before the other person takes that gold medal.

As long you are acting within the legal ambit of the law and don't break the rules then, you have to think outside the box like Shaunae and plunge forward .
After all, win na win. Weda na leg or hand or head you take cross the finish line, win na win.

THAT DIVORCE THAT HAPPENED SOMETIME BACK.

It's been on my mind tey tey since it happened and quite frankly, if I don't get it off my mind, it's going to feel like am literally carrying a bag of cement on my head.

This is about the divorce of one of Nigeria's prominent pastors from his wife, talking about Pastor Chris Oyakhilome's divorce. From a legal point of view, there is only one instance where a divorce can be granted. This is where the marriage has broken down irretrievably. As in, no mmekwata. 

And there are a number of grounds that the court will look at before it grants a petition for a divorce but that is not what I want to dwell on this evening.

First of all I am not a 'Pastoress' o, but I believe that there is a place of tolerance, forgiveness, commitment plus a bunch of other things in marriage. I've  watched men of God give marriage counselling to couples and intending couples and how they do not encourage divorce and all that. It got me wondering why any pastor and his wife should get a divorce. I mean, where did all their teachings on marriage fly to? Are they not supposed to practise what they preach?

I'm not interested in what happened, where it happened, why it happened nor how it happened. What am interested in is the fact that there was no breathing room for tolerance, forgiveness, commitment and prayer which is a Christian's most potent weapon.

I believe in wedding anniversaries, in family, in growing old together and in everything that should be done to stay together. I once saw a woman on 700 club who stuck to her husband despite the fact that the man womanised, took drugs and basically neglected her and the children. She had every reason to leave the man but she said that she didn't relent in praying or give up on the man.
Friends and family called her a fool for staying and asked her to quit the marriage, take the kids and leave that good for nothing man but she stuck to her guns and at the end of the day, somehow her husband turned a new leaf.
The man was in tears when he was talking about his past and present life. He said the woman was his life and he would have died if it was not for her. If such a couple were to give you a lecture on marriage, you go listen nau because they've seen it all. You yourself go see your own case as akam case.
Call me old fashioned but I'd rather draw inspiration from such a story abeg.

MY THOUGHTS ON CAMERON'S DESCRIPTION OF NIGERIA.

Why are Nigerians upset with Cameron's description of Nigeria. What he said is the truth and if we don't like it then it's high time we did something about our 'fantastically corrupt' nature. 

Our good morning greetings on the dailies are the mind blowing amounts of money being stolen. The funny thing is that these thieves have staunch supporters who know that he or she stole funds and yet go ahead to worship them.

It is then the same people that will beat up someone who stole a cup of garri. If it's not about stolen funds, it's about court processes being abused. If it's not this it's about a trigger happy police man or someone defending a group of marauding killers and the list goes on and on. 

So what are we saying?

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS?

A 65 year old man whose wife is a nurse started feeling unwell. His wife asked him to see the doctor but the man refused stating that he would rather take his herbal medicines which, he believed, have always worked well for him.

The wife being an experienced nurse, checked out the symptoms and decided that it would most probably be that he was coming down with the flu. All she needed to confirm her diagnosis was a test result which would be available if only her husband would quit being stubborn and visit the hospital.

"Ok, forget about going to the hospital, just take the drugs I bought."
"Bia nwanyi a, rapu m aka. Do you want to kill me before my time? Before these white people came with their medicines, were our ancestors not alive and well!? Kpachara anya gi."

Day in day out, she pleaded, threatened and eventually invited family members to talk to the man but still the man refused to budge. She watched as her husband's health deteriorated terribly and she was out of options on what to do. So.............. she decided to take the only route left. She asked God for forgiveness and started sneaking in the drugs into his food. At first, he complained that the food tasted funny, even the water tasted funny too but she just dismissed the topic and asked him to eat up and stop his whining. Surely, within a few days, his health improved and he gave the glory to his herbal concoctions. The wife just dey look am.

But she couldn't have peace of mind and opened up to him. All hell broke loose and he called her family and his and gave the wife's family a date on which they would expect her return with her belongings.
Now, I'd like to know your thoughts on this.

CAITLYN JENNER NOT COMFORTABLE WITH GENDER CONFIRMATION SURGERY.

Caitlyn Jenner doesn't seem ready to take the plunge of completing her gender reassignment.
In the promo for Sunday's episode of I Am Cait, the 66-year-old struggled with one of the biggest decisions in her transition so far.

"The last six months of my life have been really enlightening," she says. "But one thing I'm really not comfortable with is this issue of gender confirmation surgery."

Her friend tells her she needs to find the truth and express it.

"It's something that everyone has to wrestle with individually," she tells Cait. "You know, there are a lot of people who never end up having surgery and yet they're still men or women."

For the purposes of discussion, how can a grown man in his 60s, married twice, with kids to show for them, wake up one morning and decide to change his gender? I don't get the rationale behind all these transgender movements. Many men, especially in the developed countries were once women and many women were once men! I need serious light to be shed on this stuff for me because I don't gerrit.

SEE THE BOOK A NIGERIAN GRADUATE WROTE FOR CHILDREN.

Ha! The worst part of this is that it would be sold in schools and children will assimilate what they would be taught. One can only but imagine how the contents of the book would look like.

Three people are responsible... the author and the printing press. While the author's fault is obvious and inexcusable. How can i own a desktop publishing printing press and not edit and proof read what is being given to me to type, bind and package? Unfortunately, money matter have blinded the ethics of publishing. Tufiakwa!!!

Thirdly sef, our Nigerian Publisher Association is literally dead... Any dick and harry can publish a book today without their knowledge and it would be in circulation in the market. Chayiiiiii!

My take on this is that the education system in Nigeria needs a total make over both at the Federal level and the state level. 

What kind of  English will the children being taught with this grammar speak? Anambra State for that matter! Mba mba mba, Governor Willie Obiano should kindly look into this matter.

A FATHER BEATS HIS SON WITH PESTLE AND ABANDONS HIM !!!

Seriously speaking, not everyone living is human. Some are just goats in human skin. How on earth will a father beat a child up to this extent? Even if he stole something, he shouldn’t be treated this way.

8 years old Chukwuma Okafor is presently on admission at the Kubwa General Hospital after his father brutally beat him, left cane marks on his body and a fractured hand and leg.
According to Facebook user, IG Wala who shared the photos, after beating him, Ebuka’s father took him to school and dumped him there. Worried by his state, his teachers contacted a Nun who rushed him to the General Hospital in Kubuwa, Abuja. After undergoing series of X-ray, the result revealed he has fracture on his leg and hand as a result of beating with a strong object which the boy confirmed to be a pestle.

Incidentally, Hassan Maina Kaina, a reporter with VOA Hausa was in the hospital to check on his friend. He saw the boy’s condition and encouraged that the matter should be reported to the Police.

The school reported the matter to the Police in Kubuwa and Mr. Okafor (his father) has been arrested for child abuse. The school teachers confirmed that on several occasions, they made effort to intervene on the boy’s situation but the father proved stubborn and even threatened them. The scars on the boy’s head & back shows how long he has been maltreated by his own father.

Ebuka’s father claims he is a disciplinarian and that his arrest by the police over the matter is an example of the kind of embarrassment his 8 year old son brings to his family. He is yet to state what his son did to warrant such beating.

GARDEN EGG SAUCE.

Today's recipe is a very nutritional one and it's made with your everyday normal garden egg. Could be the white ones or the green ones but I used the white ones for this recipe. Am sure a lot of people never knew that you could actually make sauces and stews with it. I thought so too till I came across this recipe and I was like Wooow! So don't just buy garden egg and eat with groundnut or ose oji (that thick brown paste for eating garden eggs), try out this recipe I want to share and you'll be glad you did.

Ingredients:
Garden eggs
Red oil
Crayfish
Ogiri okpei, ogiri isi (igbo) or Dawadawa
Pepper
Scent leaves
Smoked fish
Seasoning
Salt
Water

Method 1
Remove the stalk from the garden eggs, wash and grind them in a blender. Grind thoroughly to form a smooth paste then set your red oil on fire. Heat it till it's bleached or if you prefer just heat it till it's hot. I like to bleach it because it gives a different taste from the ordinary hot red oil.
Add the blended garden eggs and fry till most of the water in it is dried up. Wash the smoked fish with warm water and salt and add to the sauce. Add a little water to it to adjust the thickness to your preference then add your ground crayfish, okpei, pepper, seasoning and salt. Lastly add the scented leaves and allow to simmer for a few minutes and turn off the heat.
You can serve with boiled yam, plantain or rice.

Method 2
Boil the garden eggs till it cooks well and becomes soft. Peel off the light back from it and discard. Pound the garden eggs in a mortar or just use your blender. When a smooth paste is formed, put it in a pot and boil. Add a little water, red oil, okpei, pepper, smoked fish, crayfish and the scented leaves and seasoning.
(I have to state that I don't use smoked fish, crayfish and the scented leaves when I prepare the sauce using this second method.)  

Method 3
The only extra ingredient here is fresh tomatoes. Use the first method here but fry the garden eggs and tomatoes together. The taste is mind blowing!

YESTERDAY'S AFTERNOON MUSINGS.

Yesterday was like any other day, I had gone to pick up my children from school. And as I sat in the school's waiting hall, I looked at the children pouring out from their classes. Some running, some chatting, some sharing their left over lunch with friends and some others doing stuff they considered fun. They were all children just being children and their innocence drew a smile to my face.

But as I watched them, I grew somewhat sober. These children would soon grow up to be young men and women and they will stop being as free with each other. The society including we their parents will pollute their minds about the next person's gender, the difference in their states of origin, their different tribes and religion, their social status in life, who to mingle with and who not to talk to, just to mention but a few.  And that is why we have the world the way it is. A large majority of the human race preach strife, teach how to take advantage of the other person's weaknesses and a vengeful outlook on life. This reminds me of one of P-Square's song, "Do me I do you, man no go vex...." 

Basically, we lay so much emphasis on the least important things in life. We don't preach tolerance, being patient, being civil, respecting the other person's beliefs, being thankful to God for everyone and praying for anyone no matter who. 

And this is how life has been from time immemorial, even the Holy Bible itself acknowledges that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9) 

Can this world be a better place? Can it be that peaceful? I can't say it is possible because judging from times before Abraham, it never got any better. But we can make it happen if we want to, it will only take time. A very very long time at that. Definitely such peace is only available in heaven. We all have to try to get there to experience it. 

YOUNG UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA STUDENT DIES IN HIS SLEEP.

Abk Sadiq, a 400l industrial chemistry department student of the University of Abuja died last night in his sleep. Just yesterday, he was very active on twitter…and one of his last tweets was something about death. See it after the cut…May his soul rest in peace, amen.

It's very sad that such a budding young man should mysteriously die like that. I mean, the guy just laughed at someone who was praying against death and that same death just grabbed him away in the middle of the night. The strangest of things do happen in this world. Science would proffer reasons why the young man died but did the so called reason have to happen after what he had tweeted?

The Bible in Proverbs 18:21 states that, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." It could be in the form of what you have spoken, written, tweeted, instagrammed, etc. In however form death is mentioned, whether knowingly or unknowingly, it is as powerful as in the other form.  The same Bible in Proverbs 21: 23 states that, "Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity."

So let us be careful in what we say or think whether or not as a joke or not, because this our little body organ is capable of life and death indeed.

SHOULD A SINGLE LADY TONE DOWN HER SUCCESS IN ORDER TO GET A HUSBAND?

So I was watching the television a couple of days ago and this topic was furiously being argued on. Some said yes and some said no. Both sides had very valid points to support their opinions and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the debate.

For me, I think that a woman should not tone down her success to get a husband but should apply modesty and moderation in her lifestyle and in whatever she does as well. If as a single lady  you can afford a Lamborghini (shey na the spelling be that?), maybe a fairly recent Rav4 jeep model would be better. If you can afford to buy a duplex, why not rent a flat with a friend or a relation. If you like travelling abroad for your vacations, try travelling to another part of Nigeria and relax. Don't wear designer goods all the time, try Aba-made. Trust me, those guys are good too.
Don't get me wrong it's good to live a good life, after all you only live once, BUT moderation and modesty are the keys to get what you want as a single lady even as a single guy looking to get a wife who will love you for you and not love you because of your wealth.
Toning down the wealth will go a long way in attracting a sincere man and not a gold digger. Yes o! some men are gold diggers too.

There are some men who feel intimidated when they know how rich a lady is therefore, they would prefer to go after a lady who is less financially well off than they are. Well, tables could turn tomorrow and the woman could become the richer spouse. How will the man take it then? A man who knows his worth in gold should be able to walk up to any lady and let her know his intentions. If she likes you enough, the party kicks off. And if she doesn't want you, you pat yourself on the back and tell yourself that even though she rejected you, you had the guts to toast her.

I heard about a woman that owned a house in which she and her family lived in but the husband did not know that their supposedly rented apartment belonged to his wife. Kasala burst when it was time to pay their house rent and the man didn't have the money ready. He then decided to plead with the landlord, who he had never met, to give him some time in order to get the money. One thing led to the other and it was discovered that the house actually belonged to his wife.

Now what I don't subscribe to is lying to a man about your achievements. That is out rightly bad and if the man later finds out that his woman lied to him about her wealth then that's going to affect the trust in their relationship. I know some women do it with good intentions so that they wont come off as haughty or too accomplished but what is wrong is wrong. Of course, you don't tell a man your achievements on the first few dates but you can let him in on your secret when you are sure that he is genuine. And how will you know that he is genuine? Pray wella my sister, lol.
